1.COVID AWARENESS

May 16th , 2020

The cadets seeing the uncontrolled growth of the covid cases took upon themselves and a group meet was conducted which resulted in the decision of conducting an awareness programme about the importance of usage of sanitizers. The cadets were asked to visit the nearby shops albeit maintaining the covid protocols laid by the government. The cadets visited the respective shops and enlightened them about the use and importance of sanitizers as well as mask. They were provided with information on more about the weight of the situation and results if not taken seriously. A situation which was totally new to society, the cadets did a wonderful job of making them aware of the government laid protocols. And it’s proud to say that to an extent this programme was successful and the cadets were able to handle the situation without creating any further panic and fear among people.

 

2. Cleaning of Anne Mascarene statue

August 18,2020

  We Ncc cadets decided to clean the statue of Anne Mascarene who was famous Indian independent activist. Initially we all gathered together in our college. Then as groups, due to covid protocol, we went near the statue and started cleaning the surrounding. After cleaning all the unwanted plants around the statue, we planted trees as an initiative for the future. At last we gathered to take a prestigious picture for publishing in order to inspire our citizens.

3.Ozone day rally

September 16, 2020

  We cadets under the leadership of our GCI Beena Mam, took a step forward on September 16, ozone day to express awareness about ozone depletion and our survival. Beena mam and our principal lectured about the harmful hazards the ozone layer is facing and taught us about the immediate initiative to rescue the ozone layer. The speech was so informative. After the speech, we decided to say up a rally, spreading an immediate awareness to save the ozone layer. The rally started from the main gate of our college and we walked around 2 km in public and returned back to our college. Our aim was to make the people think about the problems the ozone layer is facing.

3.Gandhi Jayanti

October 2, 2020

October 2, 2020 marks the 151st birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. It is an important day our Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi was born on this day. We are all aware of Gandhi’s role in India’s independence without any violence. October 2 is also observed as the International Day of non-violence as directed by the UN General Assembly.

     October 2 is celebrated with many cultural events across the country but this time people will celebrate at home due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The day is not just celebrated in India but across the globe. Various rallies, debates, lectures, and poster competitions take place around the world.

As we are all aware, Gandhi Ji led many peace protests waging a non-violent war against the British regime. It includes the non-cooperation movement, civil disobedience movement, the Quit India movement, salt satyagraha, and others. He also fought against the caste system, untouchability, for the rights of 75,000 Indians living in South Africa.

 

             Like every year, this year too we celebrated Gandhi Jayanthi grandly. Organised various activities like intercollegiate quiz competitions, declamation competition, speech competition etc. By considering the present pandemic situation, competition was conducted by sharing the prepared google forms through various social media platforms. 100 plus entries were there. The result was announced through the official Instagram page of women’s college NCC. Declamation competition and speech competition was intracolligiate ones. Poster making competition was also conducted among the cadets. The below given poster won the prize. 

    On this day we remember and pledge ourselves to follow the path of the legacy he left behind and lead our lives in peace and harmony.

 

 

4.ANTI CORRUPTION DAY

9 December, 2020

 International Anti-Corruption Day 2020: It is observed on 9 December globally to raise awareness on the importance of a corruption-free society. The day also provides us an opportunity to recommit to collective action in preventing and addressing corruption. 

To achieve the Sustainable Development Goals a global campaign United Against Corruption focuses on corruption. Let us tell you that corruption is one of the biggest obstacles to achieve the SDG. It has been seen that a person in power abuse people and so they lost their freedom, health, life, and future. Corruption affects every country, region, community and no one is immune to this crime. Therefore, we should take part in fighting against corruption.

The Assembly also designated 9 December as International Anti-Corruption Day, to raise awareness of corruption and of the role of the Convention in combating and preventing it.  The Convention entered into force in December 2005.

In accordance with international Anti-Corruption day, 2020 our college NCC  has conducted awareness programmes, made posters, and conducted seminars on the same. As the pandemic is 

spreading, all our programs were conducted with the help of digital platforms.Anti –corruption day seminar was conducted on 9th December at 11am. It was addressed by our respected caretaker Dr. Shabana Habeeb. Vice president Dr. Anila J , Govt college for women was the chief guest. The seminar was attended by students, cadets, and institutional faculties as well. The chief guest lauded our effort to conduct such an awareness programme .

5.Mask Distribution by NCC Cadets

15 December, 2020

We cadets of 1(K) Girls Battalion NCC distributed face masks stitched by our cadets and utility items combined with covid-19 awareness to the fishermen community at Valiyathura.  Minister for tourism and devasom board, Shri Kadakampally Surendran distributed these kits to the local people. He encouraged us through his words. It was a very proud moment for us. Apart from this, we conducted covid 19 awareness classes for those people in there. They were very thankful to us. Through these works we , the NCC cadets started charity works all over the city. Commanding Officer Col Johny Joseph, SM** and parish priest St Antony’s Forane church, Valiyathura Fr Davidson was also present.

6. DOOR TO DOOR MASK DISTRIBUTION

APRIL 17, 2020

On 17-04-2020 masks were distributed by the cadets to their neighbors made by the cadets themselves. Free distribution was done so that those who didn’t buy assuming they are expensive can also wear it and also made them aware of the price and importance of wearing them, which at present is quite essential to wear among other precautions when going out. The mask was given to them in person as it will eliminate the possibility of masks not reaching them. The cadets did a door-to-door awareness program also while providing these masks by informing them about the heaviness of the situation and not to panic unnecessarily. They even helped in solving the doubts that the people had in their minds. All the above work was strictly done under the covid protocol issued by the government.

 

7.Indian Republic Day 2021

25 January, 2021

India won her freedom on the 15th of August, 1947 and became a Republic on the 25 th of January 1950. The new constitution of free India came into force with effect from this day. It is a day of national rejoicing and a red-letter day In our country. The day is celebrated with pomp and show, zeal and spirit, throughout the length and breadth of the country. The day was celebrated in our college with great eclat. The college building was tastefully decorated by the NCC cadets. It was a proud moment to be a part of NCC.

Arrived at the college in NCC uniform at 8:00 AM. The first mission was to clean up the college and its surroundings.  We performed our duty in accordance with the Covid protocol. There was a Republic Day flag off that included our principal, GC/O Beena Ma’am, C/T Dr.Shabana Ma’am and teachers. We looked at the rising flag and saluted it with full hope .

We were told that the country had won political freedom but It was yet to win economic freedom. For it we had a call to toil and make every sacrifice that was demanded of us. The president made a neat little speech which was very impressive.

After that, the statue, erected in front of the college, was cleaned. It was Annie Mascarene. How can we forget this one historical woman On Republic Day? We have successfully spent time in front of that rare woman who is the first woman member of the Indian parliament, Indian independence activist, and the first woman minister in Kerala.

In fact, it is a day of rejoicing and merrymaking. May we continue celebrating this day forever!

8.World NO Tobacco Day

 31 May,  2021

On the occasion of world, no tobacco day cadets were indulged in various activities. A virtual meet was conducted, where all the cadets including our caretaker Shabana mam and GCI Beena mam were present. There was a talk on the importance of health and basic awareness was provided. To bring out healthy competitive spirit, there was a group discussion on the topic whether the sale of this tobacco is good for Indian economy or not and a very good performance and team spirit, as well as their expressing power, was beautifully exhibited. The debate was concluded after 30 minutes and appreciation was given to the participated cadets and the non-participants were encouraged to take part. The teachers spoke a few sentences about it which was inspirational. The meet was concluded by vote of thanks and ended approximately after 1hour of the commencement 

 

9.Blood Donation Camp

20th March 2021

With the help of the organization ‘phoenix’, we conducted a blood donation camp in our college on 20th March. Our college principal and the phoenix organizers talked about the importance of blood donation. In this camp, lots of cadets donated blood. Also, we encourage others to participate in this camp and we made more facilities for the other people to participate this blood donation camp. With the help of many people, we successfully completed our camp.

 

10.SVEEP SIGNATURE CAMPAIGN

24 MARCH 2021

 Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation program, better known as SVEEP, is the flagship program of the Election Commission of India for voter education, spreading voter awareness and promoting voter literacy in India. As a part of the Kerala Legislative Assembly election, 2021, a signature campaign was organized in front of the secretariat for the first time voters to increase their awareness and to know the value of their vote. It was inaugurated by the Trivandrum district Collector, Navjyoth Khosa….Almost all our cadets had participated in the signature campaign and wrote their opinions and the value of voting.

 

11.CULTURAL PROGRAMMES

The NCC cadets conducted various cultural programmes throughout the year. The main objective of the cultural programmes was to improvise various talents among the cadets. During our blood donation campaign, there was a flash mob set up in front of the secretariat by our cadets. On republic day there were numerous arts programmes conducted during day time.
