We are pleased to invite applications for the Research-Oriented Internship Programme designed exclusively for FYUGP students. 4. Dept. of Chemistry, Government College for Women, Thiruvananthapuram

Research Internship in Small Molecule Synthesis & Analytical Techniques

The Department of Chemistry, Government College for Women, Thiruvananthapuram, invites applications for a 15-day internship designed for FYUGP students in Chemistry and allied disciplines. Titled “Hands-on Training in Small Molecule Synthesis, Separation Techniques, Spectroscopic Characterization and Basic Photophysical Studies,” this programme offers a comprehensive blend of theoretical knowledge and practical laboratory experience.

Spanning 90 hours (6 hours per day), the internship provides participants with hands-on exposure to synthetic organic chemistry techniques. Students will engage in small molecule synthesis, purification methods such as Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) and column chromatography, and gain familiarity with advanced analytical instruments including UV-Visible spectrophotometers, NMR, and fluorimeter. The programme also introduces participants to basic photophysical studies.

In addition to laboratory training, the internship emphasizes research skills such as scientific documentation, literature analysis, and chemical structure drawing using tools like ChemDraw. Sessions by external experts and guided data analysis further enhance the learning experience.

This programme aims to bridge the gap between classroom learning and research practice, equipping students with essential skills for higher studies, research internships, and industry applications.

Duration: 15 Days (90 Hours) – (Includes Saturdays & Sundays; may include other public holidays also).

Tentative Start Date:10th April 2026

Eligibility: FYUGP students of Chemistry and allied disciplines (Semester IV) in Govt. or Govt. aided institutions affiliated to any universitywith minimum 40% marks in all previous semesters.

Intake: 15–20 students

Fee: ₹3500 (The amount is to be paid to the bank account of PTA, Government College for Women, only after receiving the confirmation mail after selection and shortlisting)
